DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAM IN DENTISTRY (INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM)

Staffs are highly qualified and many have provided expertise to various national committees. Our Dental School is a referral centre for patients in the northern Thailand. Networks We have collaborative teaching and research links with universities in Europe, Australia and Japan. Faculty members are examiners for the Thai Dental Board Examination.
Philosophy of the programme A focus of the programme is on the production of academic professionals who have in-depth knowledge in oral health sciences and researchers who are capable of conducting high-quality research as well as applying new knowledge in the direction suited for the development of the country. In addition, virtue, moral and creativity of the graduates are indeed concentrated.
CURRICULUM/PROGRAMME CONTENTS This international graduate programme is classified as a research degree programme (Type 1), and is open to applicants who hold either a bachelor degree or a master degree. Students with a bachelor degree are required to fulfil a total of 72 credits for thesis work. Those with a master degree must earn a total of 48 credits for thesis work. A Ph.D. candidate is also required to publish his/her research paper(s) in recognized a technical journal.
Objectives of the programme are: To generate high-level academic personnel, capable of conducting high-quality dental research, which leads to new knowledge in dentistry and the development of dental services. To train students in the generic skills of scientific research i.e. experimental design, data analysis, literature survey, communication skills, teamwork and computer skills. To train students in research methods and practice by performing well-supervised, high-quality research projects at the forefront of international science in well equipped laboratories.
Qualifications The applicant must have completed : 1. A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Dentistry, and have received an honor or GPA greater than 3.25. 2. A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Dentistry, and have received GPA greater than 3.25. 3. With adequate proficiency in English (TOEFL 500 or equivalent) Selection Process To be in accordance with the Chiang Mai University Announcement on Admission in each academic year and also comprises the application form review and/or interview.
